Italian Style Syrup for Soda |
|
Submitted by: Mark Resnick |
This recipe creates an Italian style syrup. When mixed with Ice Cold Mr. Fizz, it is truly delicious! 5 to 7 tangerines
6 cups water
8 oz. fresh ginger root, unpeeled, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1 pound jar honey Wash tangerines and squeeze enough of them to yield one cup of juice. Set aside; Coarsely chop the juiced tangerine halves and reserve. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the ginger root and chopped tangerines and return to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, Add the sugar, honey and reserved tangerine juice and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Return to a simmer, cover and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat; Set aside to cool completely. Strain the syrup, discarding the solids. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. To make a fresh soda, pour 1/3 cup syrup into a glass and add 1 cup of ICE COLD Mr. Fizz Seltzer. Taste, and if needed, add additional syrup and stir. Enjoy! |

Leisure Water |

Submitted by: Wm. Kwapy |
This is gourmet water for the hot summers of Missouri. At times I will add vodka, but this minimal drink refreshes well without. Not intended for cola & soda drinkers. The trick is to keep all tastes and colors very light. No strong tastes but the bubbles and beyond! The sweet of the tonic water neutralizing the sour lime. Enjoy 16 oz. special mug, crystal or glass please--but ordinary will do.
1/2 Shot or less of Roses Lime Juice
Small wedge of lime squeezed
Four ice cubes
4 oz. of Tonic Water (a lite alternative: pure cold water)
Fill the remainder with Mr. Fizz Seltzer. Stir minimally.

New York Egg Cream |

From Rosie Magazine - February 2002
This NY: soda-fountain classic is traditionally made in a chilled old-fashioned 2-OZ soda-fountain glass with a narrow bottom and wider top. For best results, use seltzer in a siphon bottle, and make sure that the seltzer and milk are very cold. Chilled bottled seltzer can be substituted, but you won't create the impressive creamy head.
1/2 cup cold whole milk
Cold seltzer from siphon bottle
2 Tbsp chocolate or vanilla syrup
Pour milk into chilled old-fashioned 12-OZ soda-fountain glass. Quickly squirt about 1/2 cup seltzer into bottom of glass to form creamy head. Slowly pour chocolate or vanilla syrup in a thin, steady stream into glass. Carefully insert an iced-tea spoon or other long spoon through foam. Without disturbing head, stir and mix syrup into milk Then fill glass to top with more seltzer carefully directing seltzer stream against side of glass to avoid creating too much foam. Serve immediately. |

Frozen Apple Juice Concentrate, defrosted
Sugar
Fizz I make these in a 10-oz milk glass...
Pour two ounces of defrosted Frozen Apple Juice Concentrate into the bottom of the glass. Stir in sugar to taste (I start with a heaping tablespoon, since the apple juice I use is a bit tart; you might have to try a few times to get it right), and stir. Spritz in the fizz until the foam reaches the top. Wait a minute, and top it off. You may want to top it off more than once, so you end up with a nice fizzy drink, about eight and a half ounces, with some nice "head" on the top.
No Sugar Added Apple Soda — Make as above, except use two packets Sweet-n-Low instead of the sugar. |
